Just Listen

Love this song.  Just the right amount of hopeful sounds and melancholy remembrances.  For me it takes me back to hot summer days at my Baba's house with my brothers and my cousins.  Here was one of those when I was just a wee thing in my Grandmother's arms.  Hope you enjoy the Decemberists song, June Hymn, and Colin Meloy's aesthetic (which is for me like Baird, TX circa 1977) as much as I do.

Ampersand Mania

And. . . ?  Well.  I'm just loving all the ampersands I'm seeing in design, decor, interiors, art, photography, fashion.  I love it - the graphic quality and the flowing, dance-like movement of the symbol. . .Right in my comfort zone.  All pics shown were found on Pinterest (yet another obsession and treasure trove of inspiration) from an Ampersand search - see here.  Hope your Wednesday rocks.

Flea-Marketing at White Elephant

I love flea-marketing.  I just can't bring myself to say antiquing anymore.  I'm not sure why. . . I think maybe because I'm not out to find the next big money-maker.  I'm not after anything as an investment really, unless it just happens (which would rock, don't get me wrong) - I'm after things that speak to me and will bring interest and texture and history (even if it isn't mine directly) to my surroundings.  I went to check out White Elephant Antiques over the weekend and was so inspired by some of the finds including the following - but also there is oh-so much more.

The fabulous finds above include a pair of chairs just begging for a vintage fabric makeover; mid-century modern light fixtures and molded wood stools (die, die, die); buckets of antlers; and Lloyd the Cowboy (my true love).  Look for updates on Flea Market Finds and Flea Market Makeovers coming soon, and go check out White Elephant Antiques in Dallas.  So much fun.

Clutch Time

March Madness means clutch time and not just for basketball -  in a wardrobe clutch, these beauties can pull you together and add a little pizzazz in one small pouch.  Happy Monday!

Clockwise from lower left: Anthro's Caning Clutch; Rebecca Minkoff's Navajo Studded Clutch;
Cleobella's Mexican Clutch from Gypsy Wagon; Zimmermann Straw Clutch on ShopBop; and finally Anthro's Candy Buckle Clutch.

My Heart Belongs to Sally Jane Vintage

Die. Die. Die over that floral skirt.
I'm obsessed with Sally Jane Vintage , and the store's blog - which is where I came across the fantastic lookbook images from her current collection.  I'm not always great at integrating vintage items into my wardrobe - they inevitably get shredded into pieces for the Smmidge Studio baby blankets - but in my head, I'm a total vintage-fashionphile - it's inherent in my approach to other parts of my life, so why not style?  Sally Jane Vintage makes it much easier to see how you would wear the groovy pieces she finds from the past.  She is so chic in her approach to looks that its hard to believe some of them are vintage at all. And her art direction and styling is perfection. For info on these looks at more go to her blog posts: Spring is in the Air Pt 1 and Spring is in the Air Pt 2  XO Sally Jane Vintage - We heart you!
Hello Chevron Dress.  Be mine.  And love the pleated skirt on the right, too.
Green machine.  I love you.
